MLS Rivalry Week

Two videos commissioned by the MLS emulating the stop motion style of cut paper as a social media campaign for Rivalry Week.

After doing a small project last year for my hometown team, the Seattle Sounders, I was approached by the MLS (Major League Soccer), the governing league of soccer in the states, to produce two similar pieces for upcoming rivalry matches to be distributed among multiple social media platforms. Working directly with the social media and design teams at their office in NYC, we were able to approach the two promotional pieces from two distinct story lines. On one hand, we wanted to show the division of California between north and south for the LA and San Jose rivalry, and on the other, the use of the championship stars between the Portland Timbers and the Seattle Sounders earned exactly one year apart. Below you can see some of the process from sketches to storyboards to final animations.
